My Carolina Precious Jewel: MOM

By

I could not end the month of celebrating women without honoring this precious jewel. If perseverance had a face, it would be hers. Born 1954, Mom came into the world and was raised on share cropping land with her 14 brothers and sisters. Wow! She sometimes tells me stories of walking with her Mom to the store. They would walk about 5 miles to their destination. My Mom would highlight that back then, a candy bar was only 5 cents. Her childhood consisted of family, school, and work. My mom and siblings all had their chores to do. They would tend to the animals on the property as well as other things. My Mom eventually graduated High School and with my Dad, she got her 1st introduction to motherhood with my oldest brother.

I am the youngest of three children. I got the best view lol. I look back and I remember being small and I remember my Mom taking care of me and getting me ready for school while working. She had very early mornings. She would cook breakfast and make sure we all got ready. I also remember my Mom taking me to college with her. I was so small and she didn’t have a baby sitter. Through adversity, she graduated college while taking care of her family. I remember watching her cook. I remember her teaching me how to cook. I remember Saturday’s watching her sew. I can also remember her being devout in church. She would make the church programs and there was a time she did financial book keeping for the church as well. I can remember going to get oil changes on the car and getting gas on the weekends. We stayed at Sears. She went to PTA meetings and any thing I had going on at school or church. She taught me everything. Excuse me for rambling and reminiscing. I really have been blessed with the best Mom! She’s always supported me. She has not only been an active Mom, but also a great example. She always practiced what she preached.

I could not ask for a better mother! A true Proverbs 31 woman. She is not only a great Mom, but an awesome human being. She did exactly what God wanted her to do. She is a jewel in the Carolina’s.

Mom I salute you! This only a fraction of who you are. This is only a part of what you’ve accomplished and done. I will write more of you. I just wanted to give you your flowers now. I thank God for you! Everything I am today is because of you! I l pray that the next years of your life will be blessed beyond measure. I pray that your heart’s desire will be given to you. I pray God’s blessings over your life. With long life will He satisfy you and show you His salvation! I love you!
